Co-Coordinating Chair – Emily Dennan
Hi everyone! My name is Emily Dennan, and I am currently the Co-Coordinating Chair for UFUSED at UVa. I am a third year Anthropology major with a Global Studies in Education minor from Birmingham, Alabama. I am especially interested in the ways in which education and socioeconomic status are linked, and I hope to eventually work in education policy. Outside of UFUSED, I tutor through America Reads and eat my way around Charlottesville. If you ever want to chat about anything UFUSED related or otherwise, please feel free to e-mail me at email@example.com. I am happy to discuss anything over e-mail and even happier to do so over a cup of good coffee, so please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Co-Coordinating Chair – Santiago Naranjo
Hey everyone! My name is Santiago Naranjo and I am a third-year from Clearwater, Florida. It is my mission to work towards making UVA a more welcoming space in which students from a low SES background can develop a sense of belonging. I am working to achieve all of this through the Rainey Mentorship Network and through a series of social and educational events that will provide much needed resources for students. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Financial Officer – Chanel Dupree
I tell everyone that I aspire to be the woman that can make things happen. In fact, ten years from now I see myself continuing to pursue opportunities to have an impact on others as I endeavor to create positive change in the world. One of the ways that I will accomplish this goal is by striving to increase awareness of issues of socioeconomic diversity, which is exactly what I look forward to doing as the Financial Officer for UFUSED. It is my hope that UFUSED will create an atmosphere of comfort, acceptance, and awareness within the UVA community that will stretch beyond the confines of our college campus. Our executive committee is comprised of dedicated students who will organize events, promote diversity, and initiate provocative discussions on various issues of socioeconomic diversity. My goal is that UFUSED will play a role in enabling all students to have a more inclusive and memorable college experience. Contact: email@example.com.
Secretary – Rawda Fawaz
Hey all, I’m Devin Rossin, a third year Political and Social Thought major from Virginia Beach. UFUSED stands as an affirmation of the student body’s devotion to the importance and necessity of socioeconomic diversity on grounds, and I’m honored to say that I’m a part of it. Being an access student myself, I’ve enjoyed the opportunities and kindness that UVA has offered to me, and I’m glad to be able to pay that forward. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Support Chair – Arthur Daquer
Hello everyone! My name is Arthur and I’m a second year Foreign Affairs and Economics double major with a minor in French. As someone who considers himself financially independent, I feel the need to help those who are on the same boat. This is the reason why I joined UFUSED as a support chair. As UFUSED Support Chair, it is my job to foster a welcoming space for students who have low SES and are first-generation college student in the university. Alongside my role in UFUSED, I work two jobs under Virginia Athletics, Global Markets Group Committee Member, and Student Council’s Diversity Initiatives Committee Member. If you have any question or just want to chat, feel free to shoot me an e-mail email@example.com! #GoHoos!
Marketing Manager – Eiline Cai
Hello everyone! My name’s Eiline, and I’m a fourth year pre-med student majoring in Biochemistry. As an out-of-state student (from Tennessee) Rainey scholar, UFUSED has grown important to me, as a support group and a place where I, as a work-study Access student, don’t feel so out of place. Outside of UFUSED, where I’m in charge of the website and advertising, I’m also involved in Madison House Medical Services, AMSA (American Medical Student Association), and Salsa. I’m also a Questbridge Finalist and a Rainey scholar and mentor. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
